If you leave the Oberheim Matrix 1000 on for too long inside a rack and underneath another racked unit, the Matrix 1000 will overheat where the 6 CEM oscillator chips are, and due to the heat, they will start failing to operate properly.. this means the oscillators will start to act funky, and sometimes you will get no sound at all.. I wonder how people used to gig with these units?? I just made an unfortunate discovery about analog electronics.
